Signs of a coming divorce

On Behalf of | Oct 7, 2020 | Divorce |

A divorce is one of the most challenging events that many people have to face in a lifetime. The outcome of a divorce shapes the coming years for everyone involved, making it essential to earn your divorce’s best possible result. To achieve this outcome, preparation is critical, and the sooner you can recognize divorce is coming, the sooner you can prepare.

Divorces are on the rise lately, making it more valuable than ever to spot the signs earlier rather than later. To prepare for divorce early, someone would need to recognize the signs, so what are they?

Communication breakdowns

When a couple’s dialogue reduces to a minimum or is filled with curtness or harsh tones for a long time, it can be a sign of one spouse distancing themselves from the other. Communication is vital in a relationship, but it is only natural that the relationship breaks apart when it is not present.

Unjustified or extreme aggression

Sometimes, a spouse who is planning on divorce needs to convince themselves of it. Part of this convincing involves convincing themselves they no longer love their spouse. To help them believe this, they may begin lashing out at their spouse over small things or exaggerate the severity of mistakes they might make. This way, it will be easier for them to proceed with the divorce.

Changes in physical intimacy

A relationship can experience either an increase or decrease in intimate frequency before a divorce. Of course, a reduction in frequency is a common sign, but an increase in how often a couple is intimate is another matter. If a spouse is cheating in a relationship, they may increase intimacy to appease the guilt or try to bring something new to a relationship.

Trust your instincts

If you have noticed these or any other long-standing changes in behavior or patterns in a relationship, it could be a sign of an imminent divorce. The sooner you act to defend your future, the better the outcome of a divorce can be.
